CHECK OUT LILI'S NEWEST BAND--THE HONEY V'S |
|
Look!….. up on the stage! It's a bird…it's a plane….it's the Honey Vees! Flying due south via the Al-Can highway, Lili McGovern & Vicky Reardon, the Honey V's, have started the buzz in sunny Bellingham, WA! This eclectic acoustic duo honed their tasty chops performing with the all-women's ensemble, the Derry Aires--a cult phenomenon in Alaska with a large and varied fan base who, by the way, have eagerly gobbled up their latest CD release (May 2006), "Built for Comfort" at an alarming rate! Yes, this duo hails from the "Land of Dreams". They braved the harsh Alaskan winters for more than a decade before migrating to milder climes. Bellingham has everything & more that these two queen bees were looking for. And the people, the people are just so sweet! After a long explore in the La Conner tulip fields brushing antennae, rubbing wings and imbibing pollen nectar over a dish of pollen peas, these two got to jabbering…..Lo and behold! The Honey Vees were born! Who are the Honey Vees? A ferociously savage pair of Alaskan girly girls who love to sing decked out in their best pair of wings. Between the two of them, they have sung in gospel choirs, glee clubs and colleges. They have belted out tunes for the West Point US Military Academy, for Margaret Thatcher, Willard Scott, Barbara Walter and yes, even for the President of the United States of America. ("I can't believe he's in our bio!" QHV1 exclaims. "But it still sounds impressive," QHV2 replies. "Whatever".) They have opened for Dar Williams and the Be Good Tanyas. They have sung in every conceivable stage configuration indoors and outdoors, attended song-writing workshops, camps & retreats. They have shouted out lyrics from smoky bars, fought off ferocious native Alaskan mosquitoes, and they can even ward off over-eager fans with one arm, the other, of course, protecting their guitars. The Honey V's are a hive full (or should we say two hives full?) of sweet, golden tunes with sticky melodies and tasty hooks.
